We carry out our research within an international network of collaborations with universities, Research Centres and scientific institutions in Italy and abroad.
The scientific community is actively involved in the ongoing organisation of conferences, workshops and summer schools – opportunities for exchange that foster the growth of knowledge, the emergence of new ideas and the development of interdisciplinary and international collaborations.
The computational and applied research activity is supported by a scientific computing and visualisation centre.
The Department participates in numerous research projects funded by national and international bodies, including the European Union, the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the National Research Council (CNR), the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the International Centre for Scientific Computing (ICSC).
Within the University of Bologna, it also contributes to the activities of the interdepartmenal centres Alma Human AI, Alma Climate and ARCES, and promotes the Alma Mater Centre for Applied Mathematics (AM)², thereby strengthening its role in the development of interdisciplinary research and scientific innovation.
